Cot

A Cot, not to be confused with the larger Cot Bed, is what many parents choose once their baby has outgrown their Moses Basket or Crib.

As with all children’s beds there are no hard-and-fast rules and some parents choose a Cot as the only bed for their baby from newborn through to around 3 to 4 years of age, when the Cot is outgrown.

A Cot is smaller than a Cot Bed

As well as being smaller than a Cot Bed, a Cot tends to have sides, which whilst they may be dropped for easy access to your baby, can’t be removed. This is the main difference between a Cot and Cot Bed.

A Cot would be the ideal choice for parents who prefer the protective environment of the Cot, but would rather buy a Toddler Bed or Small Single Bed for their child once it reaches 3 to 4 years of age.

Whilst a Cot Bed might give extra flexibility, going from a Cot to a “real” Toddler or Single Bed is preferred by many parents. Once a child is old enough to appreciate their bed, they’ll be looking for something more “grown-up” or fun; which is where Toddler Beds become a great choice.
